How much wood?

Something we’ve been trying to figure out is how and where we are going to store the fuel for not only the log burner but a solid fuel cooker too.

We currently have a gas-fired teppanyaki grill which we’ve been using as a posh barbecue but it’s a bit bulky and I’d rather not house gas bottles in the hall if at all possible.  The grill works a treat and is very easy to clean compared to a set of pots and pans.  The twin burners get the hot plate sizzling in no time at all and the non-stick surface works really well when you have sausages, bacon or burgers to keep an eye on.

So, at the expense of a few feet of space in the outdoor seating area, I’ve had a drive up to Ingleton and picked up a few bags of pre-dried logs to keep at one side and following Rachels mum Margaret cutting down a large tree, we also have a few bags of much fresher cut logs, which will need somewhere to dry out.

The chunk of space beside the bench seems to fit two rows of logs in the recessed outdoor area, with space for a small bag of kindling.  All covered over with a piece of tarpaulin to keep things nice and dry.  The space it fills is too low to sit under anyway, so I think we’ve solved one problem here at least and made a feature out of a bit of unused and unloved space.
